Biographical Notes:

Private Cyril John Johnson, aged 35, married, of Remuera, Auckland, was killed and two other soldiers were injured when they were accidentally thrown from an army truck as it took a bend when returning to Rotorua from Mourea with a load of firewood. The injured were Private John Nelson Katterns, aged 44, married, of Westmere, Auckland, and Private Eric Bryon Skinner, aged 29, married, of Hamilton.
