Biographical Notes:

“Intimation has been received of the death in action of a well known member of the Civil Service Harriers, Corporal C. T. Farland, who prior to sailing with the 26th Reinforcements was a very prominent member of the club, and who assisted in many ways to keep the sport going. The Civil Service Harriers have 84 members on active service, and Corporal Farland makes the thirteenth member who has made the supreme sacrifice.“ [Otago Witness, Issue 3367, 25 September 1918, Page 42]
