Biographical Notes:

"Deepest sympathy is felt for the Evans family, of Bapamoa, in the death through accident of their son and brother, Bryan Robert Evans, at Auckland on Saturday. Bryan was riding Mr. G. Cobbe’s Caspian in the Green Lane Steeplechase, and was killed when the horse went into the fence near the seven furlong post and fell heavily. Bryan served his apprenticeship with his father, Mr. J. E .L Evans, and had served his time in the Army. It will be remembered that Owen Evans was injured some time back and has been unable to do much riding since."
