Biographical Notes:

Flying from the HMS Vindex, his Sea Hurricane began overheating due to a coolant shortage. Attempting to return to the carrier, the engine seized and he was forced to bale out. Rescued after nearly 3 hours in the water, he was suffering from exposure and could not be revived. He died the next day and was buried at sea. [For Your Tomorrow, Errol Martyn Vol 2 p 221]
